Our Story
How a love of paper, colour, and human connection turned into Hiccups & Tickles.
Where it all began
Born from a belief that cards should feel like something
Hiccups & Tickles started the way most good things do — at a kitchen table, with a cup of tea and a stack of paper. The idea was straightforward: in a world full of instant everything, a handmade card is a tiny rebellion. A way of saying, "I stopped. I made this. Just for you."
It started as gifts for friends and family — cards that people held a little longer than usual, turned over in their hands, and kept. One birthday card led to another. A wedding card. A card for a baby who wasn't born yet. And slowly, what had been a hobby became something much more meaningful.
Today, every Hiccups & Tickles card is still made exactly the same way: carefully, unhurriedly, by hand. Because that's the only way they should be made.
How we do it
From idea to your hands
Every card goes through the same thoughtful process — no shortcuts, no compromises.
The Idea
Every card starts with a feeling — a moment we want to help someone express. We sketch, plan, and sit with it until it feels right.
The Materials
We source quality papers, inks, and embellishments — favouring recycled and sustainable options wherever we can.
The Making
Cut, scored, pressed, stamped, hand-written — every detail is applied by hand. It takes time. That's the whole point.
The Finishing
Each card is checked, finished, and packaged with care so that when it arrives, it feels like a gift in itself.
What we believe
Our values
Handmade always
We will never outsource our making. Every card you receive was touched, shaped, and finished by us personally.
Kinder to the planet
We use recycled and FSC-certified papers, soy-based inks, and minimal plastic packaging. Small steps, taken seriously.
Quality over quantity
We'd rather make fewer cards and make them beautifully than rush through hundreds that feel ordinary.
Real connection
Cards exist to bring people closer. We design everything with that purpose in mind — every sentiment, every detail.
A handmade card is a small act of love made visible. We make them so you can give them.
